We have B&B's available on/or near the beach from between $45. and $100.US a night. Kailua town is a small town with a lot to offer in the way of sports and entertainment. Kailua has the number one beach in the US (according to an annual report by Travel Magazine). we have every fast-food joint known to man and some finer dining restaurants as well. 

Here in Kailua we do not have to lock our doors at night. I personally haven't locked the doors to my car in 8 years. This is a great little town. 

If you want the "Big City" life; such as concerts, nightclubs, shopping, Waikiki or business centers they are right over the Koolua Mountain Range only 15 minutes away. Just, far enough if you ask me! But it's nice to know that we are not stuck in the middle of nowhere on a deserted island. Maybe that wouldn't be too bad. Unlike Maui, you can escape the tourists  and high priced "Tourist Traps" and enjoy Hawaii the way it was meant to be. 

If your traveling with children, Kailua beach just doesn't get any safer. There are no big waves, just warm water that laps at your feet. There is a protective reef that surrounds Kailua bay.  

Directions to Kailua town from the Honolulu International airport:

Take the H-1 freeway east to Honolulu and exit the Pali hwy. #61 to Kailua to the northeast. This will take you over the Koolua mountain range that offers beautiful mountain vista lookouts overlooking the whole northeast side of the Island. Keep on the highway straight into Kailua town towards Kailua Beach.
